Coast Central announces new CFO

Coast Central Credit Union announced the appointment of Jesse Leavitt, CPA, as its new chief financial officer, bringing more than 16 years of financial leadership experience spanning credit unions, commercial banking, and federal financial institution regulation. Leavitt starts Aug. 31.

Leavitt most recently served as vice president of finance at a credit union. Prior to that, he served as chief financial officer of a publicly traded bank holding company.

“I’m honored to join Coast Central and a leadership team that cares deeply about its employees, members, and communities,” said Leavitt. “I look forward to building strong relationships throughout the organization, supporting the excellent work already being done, and serving our members across Humboldt, Del Norte, and Trinity counties.”

Throughout his career, Leavitt has led financial planning, accounting, regulatory compliance, financial reporting, and balance sheet management efforts for institutions ranging from $5 billion to more than $10 billion in assets.

“We are excited to welcome Jesse to Coast Central,” said Fred Moore, the bank’s president, in a prepared statement. “His depth of experience, collaborative leadership style, and strong financial expertise make him an outstanding addition to our executive team. He understands the important role financial institutions play in strengthening communities, and we look forward to the contributions he will make as we continue serving our members.”

Redwoods League names new spokesperson

Save the Redwoods League announced this week that Lisa Tawil has been named chief marketing and communications officer. In the role, Tawil will oversee organization-wide strategic communications and marketing programs to support the only nonprofit land trust working across the coastal redwood and giant sequoia ranges.

“Lisa brings more than 20 years of leadership experience spanning marketing, communications, brand strategy, audience growth and mission-driven storytelling,” said Steve Mietz, League president in a statement. “Throughout her career, she has built high-performing teams, led award-winning creative campaigns and helped organizations connect people to issues that matter.”

Tawil looks forward to the challenge.

“I’m honored to join Save the Redwoods League and help bring its legacy to new audiences,” said Tawil. “I’ve long admired Save the Redwoods’ holistic approach to conservation and their commitment to building community relationships with these landscapes. I look forward to working with the team and leadership to build on more than a century of achievement and inspire the next generation to care for these forests.”

Register for Redwood Region Summit early

Early-bird registration is now open for the Redwood Coast Region Economic Summit, which is set for Oct. 1-2 in Arcata. This year’s theme is “Rural Innovation: Build, Connect, Grow.”

The annual summit brings together participants from Del Norte, Humboldt, Lake, Mendocino, and Trinity counties, along with neighboring tribal lands, all united around a shared goal: fostering innovation and strengthening collaboration across the Redwood Coast.
