ROME, N.Y. — Community members gathered at Bellamy Harbor Park for the Mohawk Valley Latino Association’s fourth annual Puerto Rico Constitution Day celebration.
The event was free and open to the public.
Organizers honored Puerto Rico’s cultural heritage and history with authentic Puerto Rican foods, local vendors, family activities, a domino tournament, dance contests and more.
“This year marks the 74th year of the Constitution of Puerto Rico and we like to celebrate our freedom, our rights and culture,” said MVLA Secretary Feidy Miner.
Puerto Rico Constitution Day marks the ratification of Puerto Rico’s constitution and commemorates the enactment of Law #1 on Aug. 4, 1952, which established June 27 as Constitution Day.
