The Los Angeles Lakers opened their 2024-25 NBA season on Wednesday with a stunningly sound win over the Minnesota Timberwolves. More importantly, though, we witnessed NBA history as LeBron James‘ son, Bronny James, made his NBA debut.
The Jameses made history in that contest, becoming the first father and son duo to play in a game together. LeBron had 16 points in the contest, while Bronny was held scoreless. Bronny was actually the only Laker who saw the court Wednesday who didn’t score.
And he’s still looking for the first points of his NBA career.
The Lakers faced the Phoenix Suns Friday night, but Bronny did not see the floor.

Bronny James received a DNP-Coach’s Decision on Friday night. He was among the four players coach JJ Redick did not insert into the game.
The contest looked like it would be a blowout early, with the Lakers trailing 38-23 after one. But Bronny’s chances at extended playing time likely slipped away as the team came back. Earlier Friday, ESPN had reported that Bronny is likely to start moving between the Lakers and their G League team in November.
The Los Angeles Lakers host the Sacramento Kings on Saturday in their third straight home game to open the season. Tipoff is set for 10:30 p.m. ET/7:30 p.m. PT.
