The First Annual Stream-A-Thon Raised $170,000 to Bolster Food Bank’s Efforts
On December 18, 2025, the Los Angeles Regional Food Bank transformed its South Los Angeles warehouse into a powerful space where music, community, and purpose came together. Grammy Award–winning artist Macy Gray, alongside an extraordinary lineup of musicians and talent, joined supporters both in person and online for a special concert benefiting hunger-relief efforts across Los Angeles County.
The afternoon began with refreshments and an opportunity for guests to see firsthand the Food Bank’s warehouse, where millions of pounds of food are distributed weekly to neighbors facing food and nutritional insecurity. By 2:00 p.m., the space filled with anticipation as the live concert began, while audiences everywhere tuned in via livestream to support the mission and make donations.
A Powerful Lineup for an Important Cause
Headlining the event was Macy Gray, whose unmistakable voice and soul-infused sound have shaped generations of music lovers. From her breakout hit “I Try” to a career spanning more than 25 million records sold worldwide, Gray brought both star power and heartfelt purpose to the stage, using her artistry to spotlight the urgent issue of hunger in Los Angeles County.
She was joined by an inspiring group of artists who each brought their own creative energy to the afternoon:
- Billy Valentine, a veteran singer and songwriter based in Los Angeles. His edgeless, emotive tenor boasts a multi-octave range that slots directly between Curtis Mayfield and Marvin Gaye
- Kym Whitley, American actress, comedian, podcaster, activist, and author. She’s known for her roles in sitcoms like The Boondocks, Young & Hungry, and My Brother and Me, and for her appearances on Curb Your Enthusiasm and the Tom Joyner Morning Show
- ChloTheGod, an emerging creative voice celebrated for bold expression and authenticity
- Tim Hockenberry, a multi-instrumentalist (piano, bass, trombone, vocals), songwriter as well, and a gifted interpreter of well-known cover songs.
- Rainee Blake, an Australian-born singer-songwriter, musician, and actress based in Los Angeles. She is known for her recurring role as Alannah Curtis on CMT’s Nashville.
- Omar Hakim, the legendary drummer and producer known for his genre-spanning influence
- Shanti Fiennes, the daughter of Magnus Fiennes, an English composer, record producer, and songwriter, and the niece of Oscar-nominated actor Ralph Fiennes.
Together, the artists delivered an unforgettable performance that demonstrated how creativity and compassion can unite to drive meaningful change. Guests also enjoyed food provided by longtime Food Bank supporters and renowned chefs Susan Feniger and Mary Sue Milliken, founders of Border Grill, whose decades-long commitment to sustainability, community, and giving back aligns closely with the Food Bank’s mission.
Beyond the music, the event offered guests a behind-the-scenes glimpse into how the Los Angeles Regional Food Bank operates and why community support is essential. For over 50 years, the Food Bank has mobilized resources and prioritized initiatives that enhance nutrition security.
