Magnolia Bakery is preparing for a significant period of expansion as the New York City-based company celebrates its 30th anniversary, announcing plans to open new retail bakeries across the United States and internationally while continuing to build its consumer packaged goods business.

“This year marks Magnolia Bakery’s 30th anniversary, and we’ve got big plans – we’ll be bringing the joy of the bakery to more people in more places with the opening of new retail bakeries across the U.S. and internationally, continuing to build our CPG business and more,” the company said in a statement.

As part of the company’s evolution, Magnolia Bakery has named Nathan Louer as chief executive officer. Louer previously served as chief brand officer of Jamba and spent most of his career at Jimmy John’s, where he held multiple leadership roles, including vice president of brand marketing and activation.

“With his wealth of knowledge and experience, particularly in the franchise space, Nathan will continue to foster the brand’s expansion, focusing on domestic and international franchising and overall business growth across retail, CPG, and franchise,” the company said.

Louer succeeds Bobbie Lloyd, who has been with Magnolia Bakery for two decades and served nearly five years as CEO. Lloyd will continue as chief baking officer while taking on the additional roles of co-owner and newly created chief brand officer.

“A heartfelt thank you to Bobbie Lloyd, who has been integral in building Magnolia Bakery from President and COO to CEO during her 20 years with Magnolia Bakery,” the company said, adding that Lloyd will continue “developing new dessert favorites, opening new stores around the world and fostering Magnolia Bakery’s SWEET values from the inside out.”

“As we celebrate Magnolia Bakery’s 30th anniversary, we’re also looking toward a bright brand future,” Lloyd said in a statement. “This year will mark a significant growth period for the brand, and we’re excited to welcome Nathan and his wealth of knowledge to shepherd the company into this next chapter.”

Magnolia Bakery, known for its banana pudding and cupcakes, currently operates 50 locations worldwide, including 40 bakeries outside the United States. By the end of 2026, the company plans to add 19 locations globally, including its first franchised locations in the U.S.

The new domestic franchised bakeries are planned for Salt Lake City, Las Vegas, Detroit, Louisville, Connecticut, Cleveland, and Staten Island.

In his new role, Louer will focus on domestic and international franchising as well as overall business growth across retail, CPG, and e-commerce.

“Magnolia Bakery has seen tremendous growth, customer loyalty, and incredible staying power since first opening 30 years ago,” Louer said in a statement. “As we embark on this next phase of growth for the brand, I look forward to building on its strong foundation, expanding the brand’s franchising footprint, and bringing the joy of Magnolia Bakery to even more people across the globe.” The company shared the announcement in a corporate statement.
