Dallas Cowboys fans are not a happy group right now. On Sunday, the Philadelphia Eagles dismantled their NFC rival 34-6, dropping the Cowboys to a lowly 3-6 (and now 0-4 at home!) record. There is one bright spot this morning, however: Netflix has renewed docuseries “America’s Sweethearts: Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders” for a second season.

At least something from the Cowboys sideline is working.

Season 2 of “America’s Sweethearts” will follow the 2024-25 Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders squad from start to finish — kicking off at auditions and training camp, and continuing all the way through the NFL season. Yes, Cowboys fans (and haters) will be able to relive this dumpster fire of a football season all over again, just from a different POV.

We do not yet have a premiere date for the second season, but let the timing from the first one be your guide. “America’s Sweethearts: Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders” premiered on June 20, 2024, and made Netflix’s weekly global Top 10 English TV List four times. It hit the Top 10 TV list in 27 countries around the world.

The Netflix series has even boosted another streaming service: Spotify. In the month following the series’ launch, “Thunderstruck” — the AC/DC song behind the signature Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders dance routine — was streamed 37 million times on Spotify. The Cowboys Cheerleaders Instagram following nearly doubled after the show’s release.

“America’s Sweethearts: Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders” hails from director Greg Whiteley, the guy behind “Cheer” and “Last Chance U.” Whiteley executive produces alongside Adam Leibowitz of One Potato Productions, Andrew Fried and Dane Lillegard of Boardwalk Pictures, and Ross M. Dinerstein and Rebecca Evans of Campfire Studios.

The Netflix/Cowboys relationship is deeper than just the one series. The platform will soon release a docuseries exploring the history of the Cowboys and their owner Jerry Jones, and Netflix’s Jake Paul vs. Mike Tyson live boxing match will take place at AT&T Stadium — the home field on which the Cowboys have yet to win a game this season.

Netflix will stream the NFL’s Christmas games, its first foray into live football, though neither will feature the Cowboys — no one needs their Christmas Day ruined by bad football.
