LAS VEGAS (FOX5) — A new coffee shop is set to open in the Arts District next week at a location where another coffee business recently closed after citing construction-related sales declines.
Almond & Oats Coffee Bar will open Oct. 7 on South Casino Center Boulevard, the former site of Dig It! Coffee Shop. The business will be the seventh coffee shop location for owner Kyle Cunningham and his first in the Arts District.
“My goal is to bring not just innovative lattes, but also specialty coffee back to Vegas. And that’s what we’re working on,” Cunningham said.
Previous business cited construction issues
The former coffee shop at the location closed in April, citing decreased sales due to construction on Charleston Boulevard that restricted lanes and forced detours.

Cunningham said he is confident in the area.
“I grew up in Vegas. There’s always gonna be construction. There’s always gonna be reason not to do something. I believe in the area, and I feel like this is the time to get started in Arts District in a big way,” Cunningham said.
Cunningham opened his first shop, Coffee Class, in 2019, before the pandemic.
“It is a local hub. I love that there are no chains, national chains in this area. Our company is local. I grew up in Vegas, went to school in Vegas… This is where we belong,” Cunningham said.
Parking garage opening nearby
Cunningham addressed parking concerns in the area.
“I think the area is on the upswing. Yes, there’s been parking issues,” Cunningham said. “But you’re seeing a brand new parking garage about to open.”
Almond & Oats Coffee Bar will be located one block from the new parking garage.
Cunningham said two new housing developments are planned in the Arts District, and current construction is anticipated to wrap next year.
“I believe that this will be the preeminent area in Las Vegas for locals going forward, and we want to be a part of it,” Cunningham said.
Almond & Oats Coffee Bar is dairy-free and vegan.
