LOUISVILLE, Ky. — A man was arrested Monday several months after police say he was found with nearly 30 pounds of marijuana at Louisville Muhammad Ali International Airport.

According to court documents, Nickalos Ashlock was charged Monday with trafficking in over five pounds of marijuana. He was arraigned Tuesday and pleaded not guilty, and bond was set at $10,000.

The incident occurred last September, according to police. A canine alerted to a piece of luggage coming in from Los Angeles.

The airline sticker indicated the bag belonged to Ashlock. When authorities approached Ashlock and one other man who were waiting in the baggage claim area, they walked away. When asked if either of them had the last name of Ashlock, they both said no.

A warrant was obtained to search the bag, which contained 29.3 pounds of suspected marijuana.

Ashlock was previously convicted of trafficking in marijuana in August 2023. It’s not clear why 10 months passed between the new incident and his arrest.
