A massage parlor in Whittier has been shut down amid a city-wide investigation, police said Thursday.
Prompted by a human trafficking concern, detectives served a search warrant at the business located in the 11100 block of Whittier Boulevard on Wednesday, according to the Whittier Police Department.
Police say the massage parlor was identified as illicit and was shuttered with the help of Whittier Code Enforcement.
Kealey Medina, who works at a neighboring business, said she has had concerns about the massage parlor.
“We do see a lot of people coming in and out of the business. It’s very a little bit suspicious because they do tend to enter through the back of the business, rather than the front,” she said. “You really never know what the people in there are going through. They could be like forced or something, so I’m glad that, you know, somebody called in.”
It’s unclear if anyone was arrested. The investigation is ongoing.
