The City of Pasadena’s Parks, Recreation, and Community Services Department (PRCS) and the Pasadena Latino Heritage Committee are excited to announce the theme for the 2025 Latino Heritage Festival: “Un Pasado con Orgullo, un Futuro con Esperanza” (A Proud Past, a Hopeful Future). This theme celebrates the strength, resilience, and ongoing growth of the Latino community, which plays a vital role in shaping both Pasadena’s culture and its future.

By News Desk

The 2025 festival theme encourages reflection on the proud and resilient Latino heritage while emphasizing the importance of honoring the past and looking ahead to a future filled with limitless possibilities. The festival serves as a reminder of the unity, culture, and shared stories that connect the Latino community with the broader Pasadena community.

“We are excited to celebrate a culture that is rich in history and contributions. This theme truly encapsulates the spirit of the festival, which is about both honoring our roots and embracing the future,” said Mayor Victor M. Gordo. “Pasadena is stronger, more vibrant, and more united because of the contributions of our Latino community, and this festival is an opportunity to come together and celebrate that.”

A New Format for 2025

In a departure from previous years, the Latino Heritage Committee has decided to forgo the traditional parade. In light of current challenges facing the community, the focus of this year’s festivities will center on celebrating culture through music, food, and community engagement.

Festival Highlights

The 2025 Latino Heritage Festival will take place on Saturday, October 11, 2025, from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm at Centennial Square, located in front of Pasadena City Hall (100 N. Garfield Ave.). The festival promises an unforgettable celebration of Latin American culture, featuring:

  • Live Entertainment:
A dynamic lineup of live music and dance performances showcasing the rich diversity of Latin America.
  • Children’s Activities:
Family-friendly arts and crafts, bounce houses, and games for kids.
  • Food Vendors:
A variety of delicious Latin American dishes available for purchase from local vendors.
  • Community Resource Booths:
Opportunities to connect with local organizations offering support and services for families and individuals.
  • Artisan Marketplace:
Unique handmade crafts, art, jewelry, and cultural items available for sale from local artisans.

“This festival is about more than music, food, and dance; it’s about who we are as a community,” said Pasadena Mayor Gordo. “By honoring our past, we lay the foundation for a future filled with hope, and this festival is a powerful reminder of how much the Latino community contributes to the vibrant fabric of Pasadena.”

A Spirit of Togetherness

The PRCS Department is committed to bringing the festival to life in Centennial Square, despite the absence of the traditional parade. “While the format may look different this year, the spirit of celebration remains stronger than ever,” said Koko Panossian, Director of Pasadena’s Parks, Recreation & Community Services Department. “This festival is a chance for families and neighbors to come together, enjoy music, food, art, and culture, and uplift the stories that make Pasadena such a unique place.”

Additional Celebrations

The festival is part of a broader celebration of Latino Heritage Month, which runs from September 15 to October 24, 2025. Throughout this period, a variety of events will highlight the rich traditions and culture of the Latino community, including concha-making workshops, a Day of the Dead celebration, and much more.
