The Dodgers have decided to print season tickets for a longtime fan after his story went viral on social media.
NBC Los Angeles first reported earlier this month that the team had sent Errol Segal a notice, telling him they would not print his tickets after he had received physical ones for 50 years.
Whether he was at work or at home, Segal “was actually depressed that the Dodgers refused to honor (his) request of paper tickets.”
Segal, 81, has owned a flip phone for the last five decades and doesn’t know how to use a computer, so he asked the team to make an exception.
After he received the notice, he went to Dodger Stadium on April 2 and was able to purchase paper tickets for that night’s game.
The team had initially offered to buy the tickets back from him, but Segal refused.
“50 years I’ve had these tickets,” Segal told NBCLA on April 3. “They threw me under the bus.”
After his story was seen by millions online, the Dodgers changed their minds.
“It makes me so happy when I hand them the ticket and the smile on their face,” Segal said. “There’s nothing like an original paper ticket.”
The faithful Dodger fan now looks forward to cheering his favorite team on in person.
“I’m with them whether they win or lose,” Segal said. “I love everything about the Dodgers.”
