“Tend to…”

I was pondering the meaning of what it means to tend to something. There are two meanings. One is to apply one’s attention to a matter, and to care for something. The other is to be inclined to do something.
In both cases this rings true loud and clear at KWMR thanks to all of you who have raised your monthly giving or made contributions to help KWMR in the wake of losing our federal funding.
I am feeling so encouraged by the number of folks I have talked to over the past three weeks. Thank you for your support!
And here at KWMR we tend to do lots of things while tending to many others. One of the things we are focused on is our pool of volunteers who create over 60% of the programming that you hear on the airwaves.
Recently Jeff Manson, KWMR’s Program Director returned from the National Federation of Community Broadcasters conference with the link to show an inspiring film about WMPG in Maine. It was decided to rent the Dance Palace and get the troops together for a showing. It was truly inspiring and we all saw ourselves in one way or another in the tale of a community radio station.
Jeff reached out to the filmmakers and now that it has made the rounds at festivals and won a handful of awards, we are really psyched that we get to share the link and password with all of you! The film is entitled An Extraordinary Place.
