(ABC 6 News) — Monday, Sept. 15 marked the start of Hispanic Heritage month, and the Alliance of Chicanos, Hispano and Latino Americans is gearing up for their celebration, Latino Fest.

The festivities kick off with a black tie gala and silent auction on Friday, which has been sold out.

Starting at noon on Saturday, all are welcome to Peace Plaza to celebrate with live performances, music, food, and more, all highlighting Hispanic cultures.

The day is planned full with events, including a chihuahua fashion show with all kinds of prizes for the best look.

ACHLA has been putting this event on since 2005, and organizers said it would not have been possible without the support from the community and from their sponsors.

This year, ACHLA is expecting more that 3,000 people to come to the event. It’s open to everyone, and organizers say everyone is welcome to come and learn about their culture.

“We are a bridge of communication. so if they want to learn about different cultures, this is a good way, educational way and a fun way to bring families and learn about the Hispanic culture,” Miriam Goodson, executive director of ACHLA said.
