Celebrities attending Tiger Woods TGL golf matches at SoFi Center

While most fans attending TGL golf matches since January are ordinary people, there has been no lack of big-named celebrities at SoFi Center.

TGL, the  indoor, high-tech golf league based in Palm Beach Gardens, apparently is expanding.

According to Sports Business Journal’s Josh Carpenter, there recently have been trademark filings from TGL Holdings for potential franchises in Chicago, Texas (likely Dallas) and Detroit. Those new teams would join the six original teams and compete in the league’s second season, which gets underway in January.

The trademark filings were for “Chicago Links Golf Club,” “Texas Golf Club” and “Motor City Golf Club.”

TMRW Sports founder Mike McCarley, who along with Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy founded TGL, told The Palm Beach Post in March that the league already was exploring expansion during the 2025 season. Among the VIP guests at every match were potential owners, checking out the innovative golf concept nationally televised by ESPN.

“We’re in the middle of an expansion process now,” McCarley said previously. “When exactly we make that decision … there’s no timeline on it necessarily. We’ve had potential expansion team owners at every single match this season coming to visit us. Some of them, multiple times. Some of them have a lot of questions, a lot of feedback.”

Among the professional sports team owners or partners who attended at least one TGL match were those from the Baltimore Ravens, Detroit Lions, Minnesota Vikings, New York Giants, Seattle Kraken, Toronto Maple Leafs, Colorado Rockies and a former owner of the Toronto Raptors.

Among those pro sports owners already involved with TGL are Falcons owner Arthur Blank (Atlanta Drive), John Henry and the Fenway Sports Group (Boston Common), Mets owner Steve Cohen (New York Golf Club), former Bucks owner Marc Lasry (The Bay Golf Club) and David Blitzer, who has had a stake in six professional sports teams and joined with Woods’ group that owns Jupiter Links.

Blank was at the SoFi Center the night the Atlanta Drive Golf Club – featuring Billy Horschel, Justin Thomas, Patrick Cantlay and Lucas Glover – won the inaugural championship, defeating New York Golf Club in March.
